Create and manage chat folders

To create a folder on your phone:

1. Open Viber on your phone
2. Tap on More
3. Tap Manage folders
4. Tap on Create a folder if you don't have any folders yet, or New folder if you have at least one existing folder
5. Enter a name for the folder
6. Tap on the Arrow (Android) or Next (iOS)Optional: Choose the chats you wish to add to the folder
7. Tap on the Checkmark in the bottom corner (Android) or Done in the top corner (iOS)

To create a folder on desktop:

1. Open Viber on desktop
2. Open the menu by clicking on your profile picture in the top-left corner
3. Click on Settings
4. Click Manage folders
5. Click on New folder
6. Enter a name for the folder
7. Click on Create

To add a chat to a folder on your phone while creating a folder:

1. Open Viber on your phone
2. Tap on More
3. Tap on Manage folders
4. Tap on New folder
5. Enter a folder name (characters and emojis only)
6. Tap on Next (iOS) or the Arrow (Android)
7. Select the chat(s) you want to add to the new folder
8. Tap on Done

From the Folder management screen:

1. Open Viber on your phone
2. Tap on More
3. Tap on Manage folders
4. Tap on the folder you want to add a chat
5. Tap on Add chats to folder
6. Select the chat(s) you want to add
7. Tap on Done

From the Chats tab:

1. Open Viber on your phone
2. Tap on Chats
3. Long-tap (Android) or swipe left on (iOS) a chat you want to add to a folder
4. Tap on Folder
5. Select the folder(s) you want to add the chat to
6. Tap on Done

To add a chat to a folder on your desktop:

From the Chats list:

1. Right-click the chat you want to add to a folder
2. In the context menu under Folder preferences , click on the existing folder(s) you want to add the chat to OR drag-and-drop the chat on the desired folder

From the Folder management settings:

1. Click on your profile picture
2. Click on Settings
3. Click on the Manage folders tab
4. Click on Add chats
5. Select the chat(s) you want to add to the folder by clicking on them
6. Click on Done

From the context menu:

1. Right click / long-tap on the chat you wish to add to a folder
2. Tap Add to folder (phone) / click Folder preferences (desktop)
3. Click / tap the folder you wish to add the chat to

Yes, you can add a chat to as many folders as you'd like.

Yes - group, channel, and community chats can be added to folders.

You can reorganize your folders so that they appear in any kind of order in your folders navigation bar:

1. Open Viber on your phone
2. Go to your Chats screen
3. Long-tap one of your folders
4. Select Manage folders
5. Long tap any folder and drag it to your desired location

Folders cannot be merged, but you can add chats from one folder to another and delete the folder you wish to no longer use.

1. Open Viber on your phone
2. Tap on More
3. Tap Manage folders
4. Tap on the folder you want to rename
5. Tap on Rename in the context menu
6. Edit the folder's name
7. Tap on Done

To rename a folder on desktop:

1. Open Viber on desktop
2. Open the menu by clicking on your profile picture in the top-left corner
3. Click on Settings
4. Click Manage folders
5. Click on next to the folder you want to rename
6. Edit the folder's name
7. Click on Done

To rename a folder from the context menu:

1. Long-tap / right-click the desired folder
2. Tap / click Rename folder

To delete a folder on your phone:

1. Open Viber on your phone
2. Tap on More
3. Tap Manage folders
4. Tap on the folder you want to delete
5. Tap on Delete folder
6. Confirm by tapping Delete

To delete a folder on desktop:

1. Open Viber on desktop
2. Open the menu by clicking on your profile picture in the top-left corner
3. Click on Settings
4. Click Manage folders
5. Click on the Trash can next to the folder you want to delete
6. Click on Delete to confirm

To delete a folder from the context menu:

1. Long-tap / right-click the desired folder
2. Tap / click Delete folder

You can have up to five custom folders.

The bubble with a number above a folder indicates the amount of chats in that folder with unread messages, not the total amount of unread messages in that folder.

2. Right-click the Unread folder tab in the folder panel OR click on your Profile picture → Settings → Manage folders

If you’ve hidden the folder, you can bring it back at any time:

1. Open Viber on your phone
2. Go to your Chats screen
3. Long-tap one of your existing folders (or tap on More )
4. Select Manage folders
5. Find the Unread folder, long-tap it, and tap Show folder

Desktop

1. Open Viber on your computer
2. Right-click any existing folder tab OR click on your Profile picture → Settings → Manage folders
3. Select Manage folders
4. Select Show folder next to the Unread folder
