To add a chat to a folder on your phone:

While creating a folder:

1. Open Rakuten Viber on your phone
2. Tap on More
3. Tap on Manage folders 
4. Tap on New folder
5. Enter a folder name (characters and emojis only)
6. Tap on Next (iOS) or the Arrow (Android)
7. Select the chat(s) you want to add to the new folder
8. Tap on Done

From the Folder management screen:

1. Open Rakuten Viber on your phone
2. Tap on More
3. Tap on Manage folders 
4. Tap on the folder you want to add a chat
5. Tap on Add chats to folder
6. Select the chat(s) you want to add
7. Tap on Done

From the Chats tab:

1. Open Rakuten Viber on your phone
2. Tap on Chats 
3. Long-tap (Android) or swipe left on (iOS) a chat you want to add to a folder
4. Tap on Folder
5. Select the folder(s) you want to add the chat to
6. Tap on Done

To add a chat to a folder on your desktop:

From the Chats list:

1. Right-click the chat you want to add to a folder
2. In the context menu under Folder preferences, click on the existing folder(s) you want to add the chat to

OR
Drag-and-drop the chat on the desired folder

From the Folder management settings:

1. Click on your profile picture
2. Click on the Manage folders tab
3. Click on Add chats
4. Select the chat(s) you want to add to the folder by clicking on them
5. Click on Done

From the context menu:

1. Right click/long-tap on the chat you wish to add to a folder
2. Tap Add to folder (phone)/click Folder preferences (desktop)
3. Click/tap the folder you wish to add the chat to

Note: You must have an existing one-on-one chat with a contact to be able to add it to a folder on your phone. This does not apply to Rakuten Viber on desktop.

To create a folder on your phone:

1. Open Rakuten Viber on your phone
2. Tap on More
3. Tap Manage folders 
4. Tap on Create a folder if you don't have any folders yet, or New folder if you have at least one existing folder
5. Enter a name for the folder
6. Tap on the Arrow (Android) or Next (iOS)
   • Optional: Choose the chats you wish to add to the folder
7. Tap on the Checkmark in the bottom corner (Android) or Done in the top corner (iOS)

To create a folder on desktop:

1. Open Rakuten Viber on desktop
2. Open the menu by clicking on your profile picture in the top-left corner
3. Click Manage folders
4. Click on New folder
5. Enter a name for the folder
6. Click on Create

NOTE: You can also tap the + icon in the folders bar if you have less than 5 folders.

To rename a folder on your phone:

1. Open Rakuten Viber on your phone
2. Tap on More
3. Tap Manage folders 
4. Tap on the folder you want to rename
5. Tap on Rename in the context menu
6. Edit the folder's name
7. Tap on Done

To rename a folder on desktop:

1. Open Rakuten Viber on desktop
2. Open the menu by clicking on your profile picture in the top-left corner
3. Click Manage folders
4. Click on next to the folder you want to rename
5. Edit the folder's name
6. Click on Done

To rename a folder from the context menu:

1. Long-tap/right-click the desired folder
2. Tap/click Rename folder

Note: Folder names cannot be empty or exceed 15 characters. Names must include at least one character or emoji.

To delete a folder on your phone:

1. Open Rakuten Viber on your phone
2. Tap on More
3. Tap Manage folders 
4. Tap on the folder you want to delete
5. Tap on Delete folder
6. Confirm by tapping Delete

To delete a folder on desktop:

1. Open Rakuten Viber on desktop
2. Open the menu by clicking on your profile picture in the top-left corner
3. Click Manage folders
4. Click on the Trash can next to the folder you want to delete
5. Click on Delete to confirm

To delete a folder from the context menu:

1. Long-tap/right-click the desired folder
2. Tap/click Delete folder

Yes, you can add a chat to as many folders as you'd like.

You can have up to 5 custom folders.

Note: The All tab does not count towards the 5 folder limit.

Yes. To disable folders, you will need to delete all your existing folders.

Phone:

Folders cannot be hidden/password protected.

No, chats cannot be pinned inside folders.

Folders cannot be merged, but you can add chats from one folder to another and delete the folder you wish to no longer use.

No. You can only add one-on-one, group, channel, and community chats to a folder. Hidden chats, messages from Viber Pay, businesses and/or customers cannot be added to folders.

No, folders cannot be muted because notifications are sent on a per-chat basis, but you can mute individual chats to no longer receive notifications from them.

No. Hidden chats cannot be added to folders.

Note: Adding chats to a folder and then hiding that chat will automatically remove it from the folder.

Your folders will not be reset if you delete and then reinstall Rakuten Viber.

Your folders will be reset if you deactivate your Rakuten Viber account.
