Resolve payment issues
Your virtual card payment can be declined due to many reasons, including (but not limited to):
- Insufficient funds in your account
- You've exceeded your spending limit
- The merchant doesn't accept debit cards
- The card has been frozen or cancelled
- Incorrect card details entered, such as incorrect CVV or expiry date
- The transaction may have been flagged as potentially fraudulent
Not all declined payments may be visible in the app for the following reasons:
- Restrictions by the merchant
- Technical issues on the merchant side
- Since we might not have visibility of the declined payment on our side, please contact Support so that we can reach out to the merchant and resolve the issue as soon as possible
Disputes and refunds
To report a card payment that has already happened as fraudulent or to dispute it, you can take the following steps:
- Tap the transaction in the transaction list
- Contact support via the Contact Support button and submit a form detailing your concern about the payment. Our support team will reach out to you as soon as possible regarding your concern / claim
Additionally, you can also decline a payment before it happens by pressing Reject on the app when a 2FA (two-factor authentication) is being prompted on the app. This will ensure that the transaction is declined, and your funds are secure.
Unfortunately, at this point there is no way to check the status of your dispute via our Viber app. Once you raise a dispute, we will investigate the issue and reach out to you if any further clarification is required and / or we have reached a result on the investigation

Google Wallet integration
Your virtual card can be added to Google Wallet, enabling its use for secure, contactless payments in physical retail environments and public transit systems using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology on compatible devices. This extends the utility of your virtual card beyond online transactions.
When your virtual card is integrated with Google Wallet, you can:
- Conduct contactless payments: Make purchases at any point-of-sale terminal that accepts contactless payments. This is typically indicated by the Google Pay or contactless symbol
- Pay for public transportation: Utilize your device to pay for fares on supported public transit networks
Integrating your virtual card with Google Wallet offers several key benefits:
- Convenience: Payments can be executed rapidly and efficiently using your mobile device
- Security: Your actual card number is never transmitted to merchants. Instead, transactions utilize a unique, encrypted digital account number (token), significantly enhancing data protection
- Widespread acceptance: The use of your virtual card is extended to a vast network of physical merchants and transit providers that accept Visa and Google Pay
To add your virtual card to Google Wallet, please follow these instructions:
- Download and install the Google wallet application on your phone
- Open Viber on your phone
- Tap on the Viber Pay tab
- Tap on My Card to view your virtual card information
- Select Add to Google Wallet
- Follow the subsequent prompts within Google Wallet to confirm your card details. A one-time verification code may be sent to your registered contact method to authenticate the process
An internet connection is necessary for the initial setup and addition of your card to Google Wallet. However, for most in-store contactless payments, an active internet connection is typically not required at the moment of transaction, as your device stores temporary payment tokens.
Google Wallet payments are compatible with most Android smartphones and smartwatches running Android 9.0 or higher that are equipped with Near Field Communication (NFC) capabilities.
In the event of a lost or stolen device, immediately contact Viber support. Also, if you have the option available, you can use Google’s ‘Find My Device’ to lock your device.
