Opening ports for Rakuten Viber on desktop
For Rakuten Viber desktop to run on your computer, the following ports must be open for all addresses for both TCP and UDP:
- 80
- 443
- 4244
- 5242
- 5243
- 7985
Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11
- Open the Control Panel from the Start menu
- Type 'firewall' in the search bar
- Click on Windows Defender Firewall
- On the left, find and click Advanced Settings (you may be asked for an administrator password to continue)
- On the left, find and click Inbound Rules
- On the right, find and click New Rule
- The New Inbound Rule Wizard will open. Once it has opened, choose Port and click Next
- Select TCP and in Specific local ports type: 5242, 4244, 5243, 7985, 80, and 443
- In the next step select Allow the connection, then click Next
- Keep all the options selected in the Profile page, then click Next
- Name the rule "Rakuten Viber", then click Finish
- You will see the port as you named it in the Inbound Rules page
Once you have completed this for TCP, open a new rule for UDP:
- On the right, find and click New Rule
- The New Inbound Rule Wizard will open. Once it has opened, choose Port and click Next
- Select UDP and in Specific local ports type: 5242, 4244, 5243, 7985, 80, and 443
- Follow steps 9-12 as per the previous instructions
Repeat this process for each new port you would like to open.
Mac
- Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall > Firewall Options*
- Click Add/+
- Choose the Rakuten Viber application from the Applications folder and click Add
- Make sure that the option next to Rakuten Viber is set to Allow incoming connections
- Click OK
*If you don't have the Firewall already turned on, you will need to first unlock your system preferences (click on the lock at the bottom of the window and enter your password) and then select Turn On Firewall.
