Bots on Rakuten Viber
Subscribe to bots
You can discover new bots in several places:

Communities and channels: Some communities and channels may have an affiliated bot
- Open the community/channel and tap/click on the Bot icon at the top of the chat

Search: In the search field on Rakuten Viber, type in the name of a bot
- You can also type in a topic in which you are interested. Related bots will be displayed under the Bots heading
- Stickers: When you download stickers that are part of a campaign, you may be automatically subscribed to a bot
- Rakuten Viber bots: From time to time, you will receive a promotional message from Rakuten Viber about a bot that you may be interested in
How to interact with bots
You can interact with bots in two ways (depending on the bot):
- Tap/click on the options provided
- Enter keywords describing what you’re looking for
If the bot gives you the option to type, keep your request clear and free of spelling errors to avoid miscommunication.
Some bots may redirect you to a third party (e.g., Google Pay) to complete your request or open a website (e.g., a news site).

Mute a bot
You can mute a bot or stop receiving messages from it without deleting your chat history or the bot from your chat list.
Notes
Muting a bot on your phone will not mute it on desktop and vice versa.
Phone
- Open Rakuten Viber on your phone
- Tap on Chats
- Select a chat with a bot
- Tap Info (Android) or the name of the bot (iOS) at the top of the screen
- Android: tap on Chat info
Select:
Mute: You will continue to receive messages, but you won’t see notifications.
- Toggle ON/OFF Mute chat
Stop receiving messages: You won’t receive any more messages from the bot.
- Tap Receive messages
- To receive messages again tap Stop messages
Desktop
- Open Rakuten Viber on your desktop
- Right-click on a chat with a bot
- Click on Mute
- Select for how long you want to mute the chat
- Click OK
The bot will automatically be unmuted when the time frame you selected ends.
Unsubscribe from bots
You can unsubscribe from a bot at any time. Once you unsubscribe your chat history will be deleted, the bot will be removed from your chat list, and you won’t receive new messages from the bot.
To unsubscribe from a bot:
Phone
- Open Rakuten Viber on your phone
- Tap on Chats
- Long tap (Android) or swipe (iOS) and select Delete on the bot that you want to unsubscribe from
- Tap Delete this chat
- Tap Delete and unsubscribe
If you want to clear the chat without unsubscribing from the bot, select Continue in Step 5.
Desktop
- Open Rakuten Viber on your desktop
- Select the bot that you want to unsubscribe from
- Click on Info
- Click on Leave and delete
- Click on Delete
Report a bot
To report a bot:
- Long tap on a message within the bot
- Tap Report
- Fill out the support form and tap Submit.
Your report will then be reviewed by our Content moderation team.
