Manage feature downloads on Android devices
Overview
We’ve created the smallest version of Viber possible using dynamic features!
Viber contains only the most essential features needed for the app to run, making it lighter and allowing you to manually download any available extra features that you need.
Dynamic features
As you navigate through Viber, you may be prompted to download* features not included in the initial installation of the app. This way, the only features taking up space on your phone are the ones that you want to use.
*If you don’t download the feature, you won’t be able to use it.
Download errors and solutions
Features will download in the background as you continue to use Viber. For optimal results, remain on the app during the download process and restart Viber when the process is complete.
If you receive an error message, consider the following recommendations:
New features can only be downloaded when you're connected to the internet.
What to do:
- Check that you're connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data
- Try downloading the feature again
Your device doesn't have enough available storage to download the feature.
What to do:
- Free up storage by deleting apps, photos, videos, or other files
- Try downloading the feature again
The feature might not be available for download.
What to do:
- Update Viber to the latest version and try again
- Check the release notes on Google Play to see whether the feature is available in your region or on your device
- Review our supported platforms article to make sure your device and operating system are supported
Some features require other features to be downloaded first.
What to do:
- Wait for the other downloads to finish
- Try downloading the feature again
Only one feature can be downloaded at a time.
What to do:
- Wait for the current download to finish
- Try downloading the feature again
The download failed because Viber was closed while the feature was downloading.
What to do:
- Start the download again
- Keep Viber open until the download is complete
