Personal data privacy settings on Rakuten Viber
Control how your data is used to tailor content and experiences across Viber.
You have the right to know how your data is collected and used, as well as how to limit these actions.
This article explains how you can control Rakuten Viber's use of your data and what will happen when you set limitations on data collection.
How do I change my personal data settings?
To find data-related settings:
Open Viber on your phone
Tap on More
Tap on Settings
Tap on Privacy
Tap on Personal data
To manage general data settings (like analytics and content personalization), switch the available options ON or OFF.
To manage location-based services settings:
Tap on Location Services
Switch the permission options ON or OFF
Close and restart Viber on all of your devices to apply the new settings.
Changing the data settings won't prevent you from using our services, but the content you see may be less relevant to you, and our ability to tailor our services will be reduced.

Notes
Some settings may not be available in your region
If you are under 16 years of age (UK 18) you will not be able to change your personal data settings; they will automatically be switched to OFF
Always use the latest version of Viber to ensure that you have the most updated settings options
The settings that you have on your phone are applied to your other devices as well
Collect analytics
Analytics are collected by our trusted third-party service providers, who track how the app is used and interacted with. This data helps us improve our products and the app’s overall performance.
Allow content personalization
The app’s content, including bots, promotional campaigns, offers, and additional features and services, is tailored to you based on our first-party data, such as your age range, your location (based on your permission), your inferred gender, how you interact with content on Viber, for example, the bots you are subscribed to and the communities you joined or analytics on how you use our app such as duration, frequency, and times.
We hope to enhance your experience on Viber by offering you relevant and exciting content. If you opt out of allowing content personalization, we will still provide you with content and services across the app; however, it may not be relevant to you or you will like it less.

Allow accurate location-based services
This setting grants Rakuten Viber and our trusted partners permission to use your precise, real-time location for non-commercial features.
When this setting is ON, we can provide services based on your accurate location.
If you switch this setting OFF, you will either not be able to use certain features on Viber, or your estimated location will be used instead of your accurate one.
Allow accurate location for Viber's business features
This setting grants Rakuten Viber permission to use your precise, real-time location to deliver highly relevant results across all our commercial services, including Marketplace and business appearing in Search.
When this setting is ON:
You'll see businesses near you, sorted by proximity
You'll see the exact distance (e.g., 200m or 1.5 km) to nearby businesses in your search results, on Marketplace item cards, and on businesses' info pages
The content you see in Marketplace and on Business Search results will be based on your precise location
If you switch this setting OFF, we'll use your approximate location (e.g., city level) to show results, but they may be less relevant, and you won't see exact distances.
Note
Granting this permission in one location (e.g., the Marketplace or Business Search) automatically applies it to all other business features
