How to report inappropriate content
Rakuten Viber should be a safe place for you to communicate with your friends, family, colleagues, and members of communities. Unfortunately, since Rakuten Viber is a user-driven platform, this is not always the case.
If you find inappropriate content being shared on Rakuten Viber, we encourage you to report it. In case of an emergency, please contact your local authorities.
What is inappropriate content?
- Spam
- Promotion of violence
- Threats
- Discrimination
- Hate speech
- Misinformation (fake news)
- Encouragement to self-harm
- Exploitation of children
- Nudity
- Prostitution
- Use and sale of drugs and alcohol
- Encouragement to break the law
- Catfishing (impersonation)
- Copyright and trademark violations

If you receive inappropriate content directly from another user, we recommend that you block them.
What happens when I report inappropriate content?
Our support team will review the information you reported and will take the appropriate action.
You may also wish to leave any community or channel in which you find inappropriate content.
Notes
Your information will not be shared with the owner of the content that you reported.
How do I report inappropriate content?
Report a community or channel on your phone
- Open Rakuten Viber
- Select the community that you would like to report
- At the top of the screen, tap the 3 dots
- Tap Report community
- Select the reason for reporting the community
Report a message within a community, channel or bot on your phone
- Open Rakuten Viber
- Select the community or bot that an inappropriate message is in
- At the top of the screen, tap the 3 dots
- Tap Report a message
- Tap the message(s) that you would like to report
- Tap the exclamation mark at the bottom of the screen
- Select the reason for reporting the message(s)
You can also report a message by long tapping on it and selecting Report.
After reporting a message in a community or channel, members can also delete the message by selecting Hide reported post. The message can still be viewed by other members and admins in the community/channel. Please note that if you uninstall and reinstall Rakuten Viber, the message will be visible to you again.
Report a community or channel on your desktop
- Open Rakuten Viber
- Select the community that you would like to report
- At the top of the screen, click on the community’s name: the community info page will open
- Scroll to the bottom of the info page
- Click on Report community
- Select the reason for reporting the community
Report a message within a community, channel or bot on your desktop
- Open Rakuten Viber
- Select the community or bot that an inappropriate message is in
- Right click on the message
- Click on Report
- Select the reason for reporting the message
After reporting a message in a community or channel, members can also delete the message by selecting Hide reported post. The message can still be viewed by other members and admins in the community/channel. Please note that if you uninstall and reinstall Rakuten Viber, the message will be visible to you again.
Report a custom sticker pack
1. Tap on the sticker you want to report
2. Tap Get it
3. Tap on the Arrow
4. Tap Report
5. Select the reason for reporting the sticker pack
Notes
You may only report an entire sticker pack, and not individual stickers.
