Deactivate or uninstall Rakuten Viber on your desktop

Protect your privacy by deactivating Rakuten Viber after using it on a public computer.

Please read this entire article to see whether you need to deactivate or uninstall Rakuten Viber to resolve your issue and to understand the consequences of doing so.

Deactivating and uninstalling Rakuten Viber on your computer will result in the following:

• You will be logged out of your Rakuten Viber account on your desktop
• All data, including media download folders, will be permanently deleted
• Uninstalling Rakuten Viber on your desktop will not affect Rakuten Viber on your phone

If you reactivate or reinstall Rakuten Viber again:

• You will only be able to sync the desktop app with the data available on your phone
• Data that was available on your desktop but not on your phone won’t be restored
• You may lose some media files, especially ones received over 14 days before reactivation

If you sign in to Rakuten Viber on a public computer, you will need to log out of your account by deactivating Rakuten Viber so that no one can access your Rakuten Viber account.

1. Open Rakuten Viber on your desktop
2. Click on your profile picture next to the Search field
3. Click on Settings 
4. Click on Privacy and security
5. Click on Deactivate
6. Click on Deactivate again to confirm

If you forget to deactivate Rakuten Viber and no longer have access to the computer, you can deactivate the desktop app from your phone:

1. Open Rakuten Viber on your phone
2. Tap on More 
3. Tap on Settings
4. Tap on Account
5. Tap on Desktop and tablets
6. Select the computer on which you want to deactivate Rakuten Viber
7. Tap Deactivate

You may want to uninstall Rakuten Viber if you no longer need it on your computer or you’re having issues with the app and need to reinstall it.

1. Open Rakuten Viber on your desktop
2. Click on your profile picture next to the Search field
3. Click on Settings 
4. Click on Privacy and security
5. Click Deactivate
6. Click on Deactivate again to confirm
7. Open the Control panel on your PC
8. Click on Programs
9. Click on Uninstall a program
10. Double click on Rakuten Viber
11. Click Remove

You may want to uninstall Rakuten Viber if you no longer need it on your computer or you’re having issues with the app and need to reinstall it.

1. Open Rakuten Viber on your desktop
2. Click on your profile picture next to the Search field
3. Click on Settings 
4. Click on Privacy and security
5. Click Deactivate
6. Click on Deactivate again to confirm
7. Open Finder on your Mac
8. Click on Applications
9. Right-click on Rakuten Viber and select Move to trash
10. Open Trash on your Mac and click Empty (all items in the trash will be permanently deleted)
