How to make voice and video calls on Rakuten Viber

Call anyone in the world for free using Rakuten Viber!

Want to call more than one person at the same time? Start a group call.

1. Open Rakuten Viber on your phone
2. In the Chats  screen select the person you want to call or find them by their name in the Search bar
3. Tap on either the Audio or Video call button (top right corner) to initiate the call

To send a message to the person you’re speaking with:

Audio call

1. Tap on Chat

Video call

1. Tap on Menu  (top right corner)
2. Tap on Send a message

To exit the chat screen tap on the green banner with your call details, at the top of the screen.

Bring the small screen (usually the selfie view) to full screen by tapping on it. Switch back by tapping on the small screen again.

Be on your call and continue working on your phone at the same time by minimizing your call screen.

Android

To minimize the call screen tap on the Return arrow on your phone.

The minimized call screen* will be available in the corner of your screen. To reposition it, tap and drag the minimized screen to a more convenient location.

Tap on the call screen and then on Expand in the center to return the call to full screen or tap on the X to close the screen and turn off your video. Please note that tapping the X will also turn off the other participant’s video.

To return the call to full-screen open Rakuten Viber again (if you’re still on the app, you’ll need to open it again from your home screen).

*This feature is not available on phones using Android version 5.0 or lower.

iOS

To minimize the call screen:

Audio call: Tap on the Minimize arrows (top corner).

Video call: Tap on the Return arrow (top corner).

The minimized call will appear as a green banner at the top of your screen. Tap on the banner to return the call to full screen.

To add another person(s) to your call:

1. Tap on Add to call (in audio-only call) or (in video call - top right corner)
2. Your contact list will be displayed; select up to 38 more people to join your call (40 people in total)
   • Tap Cancel (top left corner) to exit out of the screen
3. Tap Done (top right corner) to call the people you selected

You can transfer the call to another device, including a tablet or desktop that has Rakuten Viber installed on it:

Audio call

1. Tap on Call transfer

Video call

1. Tap on Menu  (top right corner)
2. Tap Transfer

Your other devices will start ringing; once you pick up the call, your current call on your phone will hang up.

To view the call settings panel during a video call, tap on your screen.

You will have the following options:

Tap on Menu  to find the following options:

Send message: Send a message in the chat.

Transfer call: transfers the call to another device.
