Deactivate a device that you have previously used to log into Rakuten Viber. Please note that deactivating Rakuten Viber will permanently remove your chat history and delete all data related to Rakuten Viber from that device.

If you change the phone number you use on Rakuten Viber, your chats, communities, channels, stickers, and settings will not be affected, and your Rakuten Viber contacts will be notified of your new number.

Starting with iOS 18, iPhone users will have the option to select which contacts they wish to allow an app to access (as opposed to the whole address book on pre-iOS18). Rakuten Viber relies on having access to your whole address book to display which of your contacts are on Rakuten Viber. If the address book access is limited, you will see a banner on the main Chats, Compose, and Calls screens asking you to enable Full Access to the address book.

1. Tap on Allow access
2. Tap on Go to settings (this will take you to the iPhone settings)
3. Tap on Contacts
4. Tap on Full Access

To enable full address book access from the operating system:

1. Go to the iOS settings
2. Scroll down to find Viber and tap on it
3. Tap on Contacts
4. Tap on Full Access

You can now switch back to Rakuten Viber.

Enable disappearing messages by default for all new one-on-one chats. You can also select how long messages will be visible before they are deleted for both you and the receiver.

Set up a PIN to add an extra layer of security to your Rakuten Viber account. You'll be prompted to enter your PIN when you activate Rakuten Viber on a new phone, make certain changes to your account, and when you use Viber Pay.

Allow Rakuten Viber to suggest people you may know, based on your address book and mutual contacts you share with others.

Control if your photo can be seen by all Rakuten Viber users or only your Rakuten Viber contacts.

Allow Rakuten Viber to send a notification to your Rakuten Viber contacts on your birthday! They will be able to see your date of birth, but not the year.

Use this setting to show your Rakuten Viber contacts when you are online. Please note that you can only change your status once every 24 hours.

Choose if you want others to see if you have read their messages. Please note that if disabled you also won't be able to see if they have read your messages.

Peer-to-peer communication allows your phone and the phone of the person you are calling to exchange IP addresses and connect directly to each other to improve call quality. Peer-to-peer is only used in 1-on-1 calls on Rakuten Viber.

You can choose to turn Peer-to-peer communication off so that your IP address is no longer used in your Rakuten Viber calls, but it will reduce your call quality.

Add contacts to your Trusted contacts list for an added layer of security to ensure your contact's phone number hasn't been compromised.

Clearing your trusted contacts list is permanent, and cannot be undone. If desired, you will be able to create another brand new list.

View and manage messages from contacts not in your address book in a separate inbox.

Choose if all Rakuten Viber users or only your contacts can add you to groups.

Choose the sound that plays when you receive a Rakuten Viber notification. On Android, you'll be taken to your phone's settings where you can change your notification sound and settings.

Your phone will vibrate when you receive a call or message on Rakuten Viber.

Send a reply by long tapping on a message and swiping right.

A message will be translated into your Rakuten Viber language by default. To change the translation language, tap Message translation and then tap the language you want.

You can also change the translation language via a translated message:

1. Open Rakuten Viber on your phone
2. Select the chat with the translated message
3. Long tap on the translated message
4. Tap Language to open the list of languages available
5. Tap the language
6. Tap Done

Once you choose a different language it will become the default language the next time you translate a message.

Allow your phone to receive incoming calls with Rakuten Viber.

Allow businesses to message you on Rakuten Viber. Business Messages are sent from companies that you subscribed to receive promotional messages from, received a service from, or interacted with in the past. If disabled, no businesses will be able to contact you.

IMPORTANT
If you have a Business messages inbox, disabling this feature will permanently clear all messages in the inbox and delete the inbox.

Your screen will be inactive during Rakuten Viber calls when the device is held close to your ear.

Delete all your Rakuten Viber messages. This is a permanent action, and cannot be undone.

No ringtone will play when people not in your contact list call you on Rakuten Viber. You will be able to see these calls in your chat and recent calls lists.

You can choose the quality of the photos you send in chats from the following options:

• Compressed (-180 KB)
• Good (-250 KB)
• Excellent (-650 KB)

Automatically save all the photos you receive in Rakuten Viber chats to your phone's photo gallery. If you turn it off, you can choose to save photos manually.

Allow automatic downloads of photos, GIFs, and videos sent to you when you are connected to a mobile network. If disabled, you'll need to manually download media.

To manually download media:

1. Tap on the photos, GIFs and/or videos you'd like to download
2. Tap on More (Android)
3. Tap Save to Gallery (Android) or Save (iOS)

Please note that any media files that aren't downloaded will be deleted after 14 days.

Allow automatic downloads of photos, GIFs, and videos sent to you when you are connected to Wi-Fi. If disabled, you'll be able to manually download media.

To manually download media:

1. Tap on the photos, GIFs and/or videos you'd like to download
2. Tap on More
3. Tap Save to gallery

Please note that any media files that aren't downloaded will be deleted after 14 days.

Choose how long to keep media files sent via Rakuten Viber from the following options:

• 1 week
• 1 month
• 1 year
• Forever

Once a video is downloaded in your chat, it will play on a loop. The video will be muted until you tap on it. If disabled, the video will play only after you tap on it.

Rakuten Viber will use minimal data when connected to mobile networks.

See multiple contacts at the same time while in group video calls.

Have Rakuten Viber follow your phone's appearance theme.

Choose a theme to be used from the following options:

• Light
• Dark

Tap to change the background wallpaper shown on Rakuten Viber. You will be taken to your phone's settings where you can select wallpaper.

Choose the language Rakuten Viber is displayed in on your phone. Once you tap Language, you will be taken to your phone's settings where you can change your language settings for Rakuten Viber.

Choose the language Rakuten Viber is displayed in on your device.

Show that Rakuten Viber is running, on your phone's menu bar.

Allow Rakuten Viber to display contacts from your phone's contact list. Rakuten Viber users will have a Rakuten Viber badge next to their name.

Allow contacts added through Rakuten Viber to also be saved to your phone's contact list.

Open links inside Rakuten Viber instead of your default browser.

Edit your screenshots using Rakuten Viber.

Manually connect to Rakuten Viber through a proxy server. Refer to this article for more information.

Choose if you want Rakuten Viber to always be connected to Wi-Fi or to use your phone's Wi-Fi sleep policy.

Return to Rakuten Viber's default settings. Any changes you have made to Rakuten Viber's settings will be removed.

A file containing third-party software and licenses that may be used by Rakuten Viber.

Tap to exit Rakuten Viber. Once you exit you will not receive Rakuten Viber calls and messages. To use Rakuten Viber you will need to open the app again.
