Account

Viber backup

To backup your chat history on Viber, please refer to the following article:

Disappearing messages by default

Enable disappearing messages by default for all new one-on-one chats. You can also select how long messages will be visible before they are deleted for both you and the receiver.

2-step verification

Set up a PIN to add an extra layer of security to your Viber account. You’ll be prompted to enter your PIN when you activate Viber on a new phone, make certain changes to your account, and when you use Viber Pay.

Allow friend suggestions (iOS)

Allow Viber to suggest people you may know, based on your address book and mutual contacts you share with others.

Show your photo

Control if your photo can be seen by all Viber users or only your Viber contacts.

Share your birth date

Allow Viber to send a notification to your Viber contacts on your birthday!  They will be able to see your date of birth, but not the year.

Auto spam check

Allow Viber to check automatically if messages from unknown senders contain spam.

Share 'Online' status

Use this setting to show your Viber contacts when you are online. Please note that you can only change your status once every 24 hours.

Send 'Seen' status

Choose if you want others to see if you have read their messages. Please note that if disabled you also won't be able to see if they have read your messages.

Hidden chats

For added privacy, hidden chats will not appear in your regular chat list and can only be accessed with a PIN. You can change or reset your Hidden chats PIN here.

Use Peer to Peer

Peer-to-peer communication allows your phone and the phone of the person you are calling to exchange IP addresses and connect directly to each other to improve call quality. Peer-to-peer is only used in 1-on-1 calls on Viber.
 
You can choose to turn peer-to-peer communication off so that your IP address is no longer used in your Viber calls, but it will reduce your call quality.

Add contacts to your Trusted Contacts list for an added layer of security to ensure your contact’s phone number hasn’t been compromised.

Clear trusted contacts

Clearing your trusted contacts list is permanent, and cannot be undone. If desired, you will be able to create another brand new list.

Message requests

View and manage messages from contacts not in your address book in a separate inbox.

Control who to add to groups

Choose if all Viber users or only your contacts can add you to groups.

Block list

Block a contact and find a list of all the numbers you have blocked from contacting you on Viber. You can also unblock contacts from here.

Notification sound

Choose the sound that plays when you receive a Viber notification. On Android, you’ll be taken to your phone’s settings where you can change your notification sound and settings.

Vibrate when ringing (Android) / In-App Vibrate (iOS)

Your phone will vibrate when you receive a call or message on Viber.

Show message notifications (iOS)

Receive a notification when you receive a message from a Viber contact.

Receive a notification when there are updates in your groups.

Calls and Messages

Caller ID (Android)

See who’s calling you even if the caller’s phone number isn’t saved in your contact list.

Press enter to send (Android)

Choose if you want to send a message when you tap Enter on your keyboard or when you tap on Send d5e640db-6862-4d51-be1b-23f8570a3aee.png.

Swipe right to reply (Android)

Send a reply by long tapping on a message and swiping right.

Message translation

A message will be translated into your Viber language by default.  To change the translation language, tap Message translation and then tap the language you want.
 
You can also change the translation language via a translated message:
 
  1. Open Viber on your Phone
  2. Select the chat with the translated message
  3. Long tap on the translated message
  4. Tap Language to open the list of languages available
  5. Tap the language 
  6. Tap Done 
 
Once you choose a different language it will become the default language the next time you translate a message.

Auto-convert Burmese

Convert all messages in Burmese based on device support.

Viber-In calls

Allow your phone to receive incoming calls with Viber.

Receive business messages

Allow businesses to message you on Viber.  Business Messages are sent from companies that you subscribed to receive promotional messages from, received a service from, or interacted with in the past. If disabled, no businesses will be able to contact you.

IMPORTANT
 
If you have a Business Messages Inbox, disabling this feature will permanently clear all messages in the inbox and delete the inbox.

Use device proximity sensor (Android)

Your screen will be inactive during Viber calls when the device is held close to your ear.

Clear message history (Android)

Delete all your Viber messages. This is a permanent action, and cannot be undone.

Silence unknown callers (Android)

No ringtone will play when people not in your contact list call you on Viber. You will be able to see these calls in your Chat and Recent Calls lists.

 

Media

Photo quality

You can choose the quality of the photos you send in chats from the following options:
 
  •  Compressed (-180 KB)
  •  Good (-250 KB)
  •  Excellent (-650 KB)

Save to gallery

Automatically save all the photos you receive in Viber chats to your phone's photo gallery. If you turn it off, you can choose to save photos manually.

Auto download media over mobile network

Allow automatic downloads of photos, GIFs, and videos sent to you when you are connected to a mobile network. If disabled, you’ll need to manually download media.
 
To manually download media:
 
  1. Tap on the photos, GIFs and/or videos you’d like to download
  2. Tap on More 123f7625-1b6b-4eec-823b-9c2d1d2d67c1.png (Android)
  3. Tap Save to Gallery (Android) or Save (iOS)
 
Please note that any media files that aren’t downloaded will be deleted after 14 days.

Auto download media when connected to Wi-Fi (Android)

Allow automatic downloads of photos, GIFs, and videos sent to you when you are connected to Wi-Fi. If disabled, you’ll be able to manually download media.
 
To manually download media:
 
  1. Tap on the photos, GIFs and/or videos you’d like to download
  2. Tap on More 123f7625-1b6b-4eec-823b-9c2d1d2d67c1.png
  3. Tap Save to Gallery
 
Please note that any media files that aren’t downloaded will be deleted after 14 days.

Keep media (iOS)

Choose how long to keep media files sent via Viber from the following options:
 
  • 1 week
  • 1 month
  • 1 year
  • Forever

Auto play videos

Once a video is downloaded in your chat, it will play on a loop. The video will be muted until you tap on it. If disabled, the video will play only after you tap on it.

Restrict data usage

Viber will use minimal data when connected to mobile networks.

Display grid view on camera (iOS)

See multiple contacts at the same time while in group video calls.


Storage

Delete media files to create more space on your phone.

Appearance

Auto theme

Have Viber follow your phone’s appearance theme.

Choose a theme

Choose a theme to be used from the following options:
 
  •      Light
  •      Dark

Change default background

Tap to change the background wallpaper shown on Viber. You will be taken to your phone’s settings where you can select wallpaper.

 

Language (iOS)

Choose the language Viber is displayed in on your phone. Once you tap Language, you will be taken to your phone’s settings where you can change your language settings for Viber.

General

Language (Android)

Choose the language Viber is displayed in on your device.

Show Viber status icon (Android)

Show that Viber is running, on your phone's menu bar.

Show all contacts (Android)

Allow Viber to display contacts from your phone's contact list. Viber users will have a Viber badge next to their name.

Sync contacts (Android)

Allow contacts added through Viber to also be saved to your phone's contact list.

Open links internally

Open links inside Viber instead of your default browser.

Use proxy server

Manually connect to Viber through a proxy server by following the step below: 
 
  1. Tap Use proxy server
  2. Fill in the details of the proxy you want to connect to
  3. Tap Accept
  4. Confirm the proxy details
 
You can choose between connecting to Viber via the proxy server or your direct Internet provider by tapping Use proxy server at the top of the screen.  

Wi-Fi - sleep policy (Android)

Choose if you want Viber to always be connected to Wi-Fi or to use your phone's Wi-Fi sleep policy.

Restore Viber defaults

Return to Viber’s default settings. Any changes you have made to Viber’s settings will be removed.

Licenses

A file containing third-party software and licenses that may be used by Viber.

Exit (Android)

Tap to exit Viber. Once you exit you will not receive Viber calls and messages. To use Viber you will need to open the app again.
