Caller ID

Always know who’s calling with Viber’s Caller ID.

You’ll receive an alert if we detect that the caller is likely to be a spammer.

Caller ID lets you see who’s calling even if the person's phone number isn’t saved in your contact list. This suggestion is based on the caller's phone number and contact name as provided to us by other Rakuten Viber users (through sharing their contacts or otherwise.)

Please note you won't see a name suggestion if the phone number isn’t available on Rakuten Viber’s database or if the call is being made through another app.

You can turn Caller ID ON or OFF anytime in the Settings:

1. Open Rakuten Viber on your phone
2. Tap More
3. Tap Caller ID 
4. Uncheck Caller ID

If you wish to adjust the Caller ID post-call popup settings:

1. Open Rakuten Viber on your phone
2. Tap on More
3. Tap on Caller ID

Uncheck Calls from saved numbers to disable popups after incoming calls from contacts in your address book.

Uncheck All outgoing calls to disable the Caller ID post-call popup for outgoing calls.

You can view identified calls inside Rakuten Viber’s Recent calls tab, but first you must enable the “call log access” permission for Rakuten Viber.

1. Open Rakuten Viber on your phone
2. Tap on Calls
3. Tap on Recents

You can trigger the call log access permission request from this screen by enabling the Include cellular calls toggle.

Displaying GSM calls inside Rakuten Viber lets you access your call log with the Caller ID-detected names.

Phone numbers that other Rakuten Viber users have reported as a source of spam will be displayed to you with a spam alert . You can still choose to answer the call or decline it. If you answered the call and spoke to a spammer, please tap on the Report button during or after your call.

After you finish your call, you can choose to perform the following actions:

• Redial: Call the phone number back (call costs will apply)
• Message: If the caller is on Rakuten Viber, you can start a chat with them
• Invite: If the caller doesn’t have Rakuten Viber, you can invite them to download Rakuten Viber
• Save: Save the phone number to your contact list
• Report: Tap to report a spammer

Caller ID will show the most repeated instance of your name.
For example, if we have two users who have you saved as “David” and one as “Dave,” the name shown in Caller ID will be “David.”

You can report a caller as spam or fraud In the post-call screen. To do that, tap the Report button, and you will be offered the option to report the caller as a spammer or a fraudster. You will be able to block the caller during this process, too.
Note: If you've received a call from a number flagged as a spammer but comes from a legitimate caller - tap the “Not Spam” button.

While any user can block you from calling them, you must be reported by many users to be labeled a “Spammer” by Caller ID.

If you receive a call from a number that Caller ID didn't detect the name for - we likely don't have one for that number, yet.

The Caller ID feature uses your contact list information for its database.

To remove your phone number from Viber’s Caller ID, please contact us. This form is relevant to anyone wishing to exclude their number from Viber's Caller ID, non-Rakuten Viber users included.
