What is a small business account?
A small business account is a searchable commercial account you can use to maintain a business presence on Viber and easily communicate with your customers.
How do I open a small business account?
To open a small business account on Viber:
- Open Viber on your phone
- Tap on More
- Tap on Create business account
Fill out the details in the prompts to set up your small business account.
Notes
- The business name can be up to 30 characters, and we recommend using at least 3 characters to improve searchability. Accurate information and description make it easier for your customers to find you. URLs must comply with Rakuten Viber's Terms of Service
- A business account can only be opened on your primary device
I don’t see the option to open a small business account
Small business accounts are only available in select countries. If you don't have the option to open a business account, the service is not yet offered in your country.
Note
If you have previously had a business account that was blocked, you will not be able to open new business accounts.
What can I do if my business account was blocked?
If your business account conformed to Rakuten Viber’s Terms of Service and still got blocked, please contact us.
Can I have multiple business accounts?
Each phone number registered on Rakuten Viber can only have one business account.
How do I edit my business details?
To edit your business details:
- Open Viber on your phone
- Tap on your business icon in the top right corner
- Tap on Business account settings
Can I configure my business as 18+?
Yes, you can configure your Viber business account as fit for users over 18. To do that, follow the steps below:
- Open Viber on your phone
- Tap on More
- Tap on Business account settings
- Tap the checkmark at the bottom saying “My business account is suitable only for people who are over the age of 18”
This can also be done while creating a new business account on the Business name or Review details screens by tapping the My business account is suitable only for people who are over the age of 18 checkmark.
Once your business page is set as suitable for users over 18, customers must confirm their age before they can access it.
How do I delete my small business account?
To delete your business account on Viber, please follow these steps:
- Open Viber on your phone
- Tap on More
- Tap on Business account settings
- Tap on Delete account
- Confirm by tapping Delete account again
Note
This action is permanent and cannot be reversed. Your business chat history will remain available, but you will no longer be able to send / receive messages in those chats.
Can I manage my small business account from other linked devices?
You can only create and edit your business account on your phone, but you can communicate with your customers on a tablet and / or desktop.
If I change my phone number, will my business account also be transferred?
When you change your phone number, both your personal and business accounts will transfer to the new number.
Can I transfer ownership of my small business account to someone else?
Not at the moment.
What personal information is accessible to my customers?
When chatting with your business account, customers can only see your business account details - not your personal account details (such as name, phone number, and profile picture). In case they reached you by phone number, your Viber name will also be visible.
Is my main phone number visible to customers?
No. For your protection, customers won't see your phone number on your business page or the call screen (if you choose to enable calls.)
I’m having trouble using my business name
To keep the platform safe for everyone, Rakuten Viber prevents the usage of certain names and keywords in the business name field. If you are prevented from using your business name, please contact our customer support agents.
How can I edit my business greeting message?
To edit your greeting message:
- Open Viber on your phone
- Tap on More
- Tap on Business account settings
- Tap on Welcome message
- Tap on Edit message
- Enter your desired welcome message (up to 1,000 characters)
- Tap Save
Note
Your welcome message cannot include links.
How can I set an away message?
To set an away message:
- Open Viber on your phone
- Tap on More
- Tap on Business account settings
- Tap on Away message
- Switch the Send away message to ON
- Enable Send outside of business hours to send the message to customers contacting you outside your working hours. You can set up your business hours by tapping Add your business hours under this setting

How can I view my business insights?
To view your business insights:
- Open Viber on your phone
- Tap on More
- Tap on Business account settings
- Tap on View all
What information can I find under Business insights?
The Business insights screen includes multiple stats you can review to understand your business metrics for the 30 previous calendar days:
- Reach: Number of times your business was shown to users in search results
- Subscribers: Your business’s current subscriber count
- Chats: The number of your business chats
- Your average reply time to customers
Business categories
How many categories can I add?
You can add up to two categories for your business account.
Can customers find me using categories?
Yes, your customers can use categories to find your business.
Can I add custom categories?
At the moment, we only support category suggestions. If there's enough demand for a specific category, it will be included in a future release.
How can I change / delete my business categories?
To change or remove your selected business categories, follow these steps:
- Open Viber on your phone
- Tap on More
- Tap on Business account settings
- Tap on Edit and choose new categories or remove existing ones
- If you don’t currently have categories selected, you will see Add category instead
Business hours
How can I set my business hours?
- Open Viber on your phone
- Tap on More
- Tap on Business account settings
- Tap on Add business hours
- Configure your business hours
- Enable Custom to configure your business hours separately for each weekday

To add a mid-day break, set Custom to enabled and tap Add hours for each relevant day.
Do I have to configure my business hours?
Setting your business hours is not mandatory, but we suggest offering this information on your page for customers to know when you're open for business.
How can I edit my business hours?
To edit your business hours:
- Open Viber on your phone
- Tap on More
- Tap on Business account settings
- Tap on Edit next to Business hours
- Make your desired changes
- Tap on Save
How do I configure days closed for holidays or vacations?
To schedule days when your business is closed temporarily:
- Open Viber on your phone
- Tap on More
- Tap on Business account settings
- Tap on Edit next to Business hours
- Tap on the checkmark
next to the days when your business is closed to define that day as closed
- Tap on Save

Remember to re-enable your working days once the vacation / holiday ends.
Business calls on Viber
Enhance your business communications with voice and video calls on Viber!
What are business calls?
Business Calls allow you to initiate and receive voice and video calls with your customers directly through your small business account on Viber. This feature enhances your ability to connect with customers while ensuring their privacy.
How do business calls work?
Calls from Customer chats: When a Viber user (a potential customer who has interacted with your business through the app) calls you, they will see your business name and logo. Your personal phone number, profile image, and name will not be displayed to the customer - protecting your privacy and theirs.
Calls from regular Viber chats: When a Viber user who already has your phone number saved in their contacts calls you, they will see their regular Viber contact view of you, enhanced with your business name. This is the standard Viber contact display.
Note
To ensure new customers experience your full business profile, promote your business using your dedicated business link. This encourages customers to connect with you through Viber in a way that showcases your business branding.
Can I opt out of receiving calls?
Yes, you can turn off the call options in customer chats to enable messaging only:
- Open Viber on your phone
- Tap on More
- Tap on Business account settings
- Tap on Manage profile
- Tap on Edit next to your Phone Number
- Switch the Customers can call this number toggle OFF
When this option is turned off, customers will not see the call button, and you will not receive calls nor be able to initiate a call with them.
What happens if I opt out of calls?
If you opt out, all entry points for voice and video calls will be hidden for customers (customer chats). However, you can still receive calls from contacts (regular chats).
How can I initiate a call with a customer?
You can initiate a call with a customer once they have messaged you. Simply tap the Call icon in the chat to start a voice or video call.
What will customers see on the call screen?
For customer chats: Customers will see your business name and logo but not your personal phone number.
For regular chats: Contacts will see your business name along with your profile picture and name.
Is my personal phone number visible to customers?
No, your personal phone number will not be visible to customers during calls. They have reached you directly via Viber and do not have your phone number. Only your business account details will be shown.
Customer folder
What is the Customer folder?
The Customer folder is a dedicated space in Viber that organizes all customer chats in one place. It helps you keep track of customer inquiries and ensures you never miss an opportunity to respond or close a sale.
What is a customer chat?
A customer chat is a conversation initiated by a customer through one of your business channels. These chats are not stored in your personal contact list, ensuring that your business interactions remain separate from personal ones.
How are chats assigned to the Customer folder?
Chats initiated by customers through business channels - such as QR codes, shared links, or business search - are automatically assigned to the Customer folder. This helps you manage customer interactions efficiently.
Can I manually add chats to the Customer folder?
Yes, you can manually assign additional chats to the Customer folder. If a customer initiates a chat using your phone number, you can long-press the chat to add it to the folder.
What do customers see in a customer chat?
Customers will see your business name and logo instead of a phone number, providing a professional appearance. They can also initiate free Viber voice and video calls with your business while their phone number remains hidden for privacy.
What do I see in a customer chat?
As a business owner, you can respond to customer inquiries and initiate free Viber voice or video calls without seeing the customer’s phone number. This setup maintains privacy for both you and your customers.
What happens if I have existing customer chats before the Customer folder feature was introduced?
Any existing customer chats created before the Customer folder feature was launched will be automatically assigned to the folder, ensuring that all your customer interactions are organized.
How can I access the Customer folder?
You can access the Customer folder by tapping the folder icon. If you have a business account, the folder will allow you to manage your customer chats.
Is there a limit to the number of folders I can have?
Yes, you can have a total of six folders, including the Customer folder. This allows you to keep your business communications organized while still having the flexibility to create additional folders for other purposes.
Will I lose the Customer chat if I delete my business account?
No, if you delete your business account, the Customer folder will remain and you may delete it if no longer needed. For information about how to delete folders, click here.
Business promotion
How can I promote my business on Viber?
You can promote your business by sharing your business landing page with your customers.
A Business landing page is your Viber business card on the web created for you when you open a business on Viber. You can share the link with anyone (including non-Viber users), and they will be presented with the details you choose to share on your business page. Non-Viber users can also download the app to chat with you on Viber.
To share your landing page:
- Open Viber on your phone
- Tap on More
- Tap on Business account settings
- Tap on Share business
To generate a link to send to non-Viber customers, continue from step 4:
5. Choose Copy and send / paste it where you’d like
What is the Featured tag?
If your business is being promoted through a paid boost via Business Plus, a Featured tag will appear on your business card. This increases your visibility and lets potential customers know you're ready to connect.
What kind of interaction can customers have with my business landing page?
Visitors to your Business landing page can access the business information you have provided and initiate a chat with you if they’re Viber users (or download the app if they’re not).
Can I send a link to my external business page to non-Viber users?
Yes! Customers who aren’t yet on Viber can download and install the app before interacting with your business.
Can my personal Viber profile show that I also have a business account?
Yes! When you open a business account on Viber, the option to mention that you have a business account is enabled by default.
How can customers contact me?
Customers can find your business by searching for it or using a link, share, or QR code. Once a customer finds your business, they can initiate a chat.
Note
Business accounts are country-specific. If your customer lives in a different country, they will not see your business in the search results.
Can I contact others using my business account?
You cannot initiate new conversations using your business account unless you have the customer in your phone’s address book, but you can chat with users who have initiated a chat with your business account. You can also forward your contacts a link to your business page or chat.
Keep in mind that forwarding your business to users you haven't interacted with will trigger Viber's anti-spam filters.
How can I make my business account searchable?
Your business account becomes searchable in your country when our Moderation team reviews it.
Broadcast
How can I send my customers a broadcast message?
Grow your sales by sending promotional messages and updates to your customers and followers.
Broadcast messages allow you to send a single message to multiple customers and followers at once. It's a simple way to share special offers, updates, or important news directly with your audience.
Notes
- To access broadcast messages, make sure you Viber app is up to date
- Viber will not send your message to people who have blocked or unfollowed your business account
- If your monthly message quota has been reached, you won't be able to send more messages during that month. The Next button will be disabled. If you'd like to increase your limit, you'll see an option to get a Business Plus subscription
To start sending broadcast messages:
- Open Viber on your phone
- Tap on More
- Tap on Business account settings
- Tap on Business broadcast
- You can also access broadcast messages by tapping on Compose in the main Chats
screen and choosing New Broadcast Message
5. Choose from the available audience groups:
- Customers and followers: People who follow your business account or are in your Customers folder
- All chats: You can select additional recipients from your general chat list (but the All chats option excludes your Customer folder chat list)
6. To send a copy of the message to yourself, turn on the Send copy to My Notes option. This is a great way to test a message before sending it to your audience

I can’t send a broadcast message
To be able to send a broadcast message, your business must have at least one customer.
Must I be on the customer’s contact list to be able to send them a broadcast message?
No, but you must have an active chat (a chat that your customer hasn’t left) with that customer.
Can I send a broadcast message to someone outside of my contact list?
You can send a broadcast message to customers outside your contact list as long as they agree to receive messages from your business.
Can I attach pictures or videos to a broadcast message?
We currently do not support attaching any kind of media in broadcast messages. However, you can include URLs in your broadcasts.
Catalog items
How can I add a catalog item?
- Open Viber on your phone
- Tap on More
- Tap on Business account settings
- Tap on Catalog
- Fill out the details
- Tap Save
How can I edit a catalog item?
To edit a special offer:
- Open Viber on your phone
- Tap on More
- Tap on Business account settings
- Tap on Edit in the catalog item you wish to edit
- Make the required changes
- Tap Save changes
Can I display prices for catalog items?
In the Philippines, setting a price for your catalog items is required. For all other countries, setting a price is optional, but we highly encourage it to build trust with your prospects and customers.
How many catalog items can I have at the same time?
You can have up to 50 catalog items active at the same time.
What happens when a customer interacts with a catalog item?
What happens when a customer taps on your catalog item depends on your selection under Give customers more information about this item:
- If you've selected In a chat - customers will be auto-subscribed and taken to a chat with your business
- If With a link was chosen - an in-app browser will take users to the URL you've entered
Can links be used for special offers?
Yes. While creating an offer, select With a link under Give customers more information about this item and enter the desired link.
How can I delete a catalog item?
To delete an existing offer:
- Open Viber on your phone
- Tap on More
- Tap on Business account settings
- Tap on the Trash can
- Tap Delete to confirm
Marketplace
How can I get my business listed, and what are the limitations for business owners?
Ensure your business has a Viber Business account and has at least one category assigned. Business owners cannot initiate chats with their own businesses through the Marketplace. Contact Rakuten Viber's advertising or business support team to learn about promotion options.
