AI on Viber

Have you ever received a long article or video link but didn't have time to open it? Now you can get a quick summary without ever leaving your chat. Use the AI link summary to get a concise rundown of the content right below the shared link.

Notes

• The summary is only visible to you. It won't be seen by anyone else in the chat
• The AI link summary feature may not be available in all countries

1. Open Viber on your phone
2. Go to your Chats screen
3. Select your desired chat
4. Find a message with a link
5. Tap on the Summarize link button below the message

The Summarize link button will only appear on links with a valid preview (image or metadata). It may not be available for certain websites, private links, or disappearing messages.

When you forward a message with a summarized link, the summary will not be included. The recipient will see the original message and can choose to generate their own summary.

AI chat summary

The AI chat summary feature in group chats quickly summarizes unread messages so you can catch up on the conversation faster.

People in a group can instantly generate a summary of messages they haven't read. This is especially helpful if you've been away from a chat for a while.

Important

• The feature is on by default for all group chats
• Remember to use the AI chat summary cautiously. Like any AI, it can generate inaccurate summaries or not understand the nuances of human conversation
• The AI chat summary feature may not be available in all countries

Only group admins in the EEA (European Economic Area) and other GDPR compliant regions can control the AI chat summary setting. If the admin turns the AI Summary off, no one in the group can use this function.

On your phone:

1. Open Viber on your phone
2. Tap on Chats
3. Tap on the group where you want to change the setting
4. Tap the group's title to view the Chat info screen
5. Scroll down to the settings section
6. Tap the toggle next to AI Summary to turn the feature on or off

On your desktop:

1. Open Viber on your desktop
2. Click on the group chat in your chats list
3. Click the Chat info button at the top of the chat window
4. In the Chat info panel, scroll down to the settings section
5. Click the toggle next to AI Summary to turn the feature on or off

Note

As a user, you can control the option to summarize messages in chats through your device. On your phone, go to More → Settings → Calls and messages → turn the AI chat summary toggle off or on.

AI assistants

The AI chats folder is a convenient space in your chat list that gives you quick access to helpful AI assistants. Each assistant is pre-created and focused on a specific topic, so you can jump right in and get help with things like fitness goals or relationship advice.

AI assistants are currently available in a limited number of regions. We'll be rolling this out to more people soon!

1. Open Viber on your phone
2. Go to your Chats screen
3. Tap on the AI chats folder located at the top of your chat list
4. Choose one of the pre-created AI chats
5. Type your question or request

Important 

Once you start an AI chat on your phone, you’ll be able to continue the conversation on your desktop as well. The initial conversation must be on your phone.

No, the pre-created AI chats cannot be deleted. However, you can hide the entire AI chats folder if you don't want to see it in your chat list:

1. Open Viber on your phone
2. Go to your Chats screen
3. Long-tap one of your existing folders
4. Select Manage folders
5. Long-tap the AI chats folder
6. Select Hide folder

To show it again, follow steps 1-5 and then tap Show folder or go to the More tab, select Manage folders, long tap the AI chats folder, and tap on Show folder.

AI Polish

Viber’s AI Polish helps you improve the quality and tone of your messages before sending them. Whether you want to sound more professional, casual, or friendly, the AI is here to help you get your message just right.

Notes

• Others will not see that you polished your message with AI
• The AI smart edit is available on all chats (including communities and channels)

1. Open Viber on your phone
2. Got to your Chats screen
3. Open a chat
4. Start typing a message
5. A Polish icon will appear

• Note: You must write at least four words for the icon to appear

1. Tap on it
2. Choose between Improve writing, Change tone, or Regenerate

• If you chose Change tone, select a specific tone (Professional, Casual, or Friendly)
• The AI will provide a new, polished version of your message. You can either send it or tap on Original to go back

Yes, it works for all chats, including communities and channels.

Yes. To get a suggestion, your text will be sent securely and anonymously to an AI service for refinement, then erased. No personal data or chat is shared, saved, or used for AI training.
